Downy Pagoda-plant - Blephilia ciliata

Downy Pagoda-plant is a native plant that grows 5"- 36" tall and grows in dry to moist areas like woods and prairies.

Downy Pagoda-plant has blue to pink flowers with purple spots. The flowers are 5-parted and tube-shaped. They are arranged in dense head-like whorls that are distinctly separated along the stem (stacked like a pagoda).

Downy Pagoda-plant blooms late June - September.

Other names: Downy wood mint, Ohio horsemint.

Perennial herbaceous plant, 40-150 cm high. The stem is erect, violet-purple. The leaves are dark green.

The inflorescence is long, consisting of 10-16 flowers. Corolla 15-20 mm long, pink or purple.

The fruit is a nut with hairs on the top.

Blooms in May-August. The fruits ripen in July-August.

It will be good in a mixborder, border, group, will be an excellent tapeworm on the lawn in natural-style gardens, and will decorate the south side of a house or fence.
